2.4- Derek Dube

I watched this youtube video that showed someone making instant ice and I was so amazed by it. I was so amazed that I decided to look up how to make instant ice and actually tried it. I didn't get very good results and I was very angry and dissappointed. But atleast I tried and my quest to make instant ice will never end, I am going to make instant ice no matter what!!! But check out this video, I don't know if they messed with it or something but it seems real.

2.3-Derek Dube

"The best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer somebody else up."- Mark Twain

I like this quote because it is so true, at least for me. When I cheer someone up it makes me happy on the inside and it really puts a smile on my face. To cheer someone up is a great feeling and it will make the most saddiest person happy if they cheer someone up, no matter if its a friend or a random person on the street.

A bat was found clinging onto the shuttle Discovery. It appeared to have a broken wing and couldn't fly off during lift off on Sunday. It is not known if it is still alive or not but it is speculated that the bat was scorched during lift off. I hope that the bat is alive because if he is he will be the first bat in space and it will go down in the history books.

My parents are leaving to go to some weird meeting thing in Burlington and are going to leave me the car so that I can drive to work. I been thinking that I should use it to go somewhere other than work. I really want to go Lebanon and waste all my money on things that I want but I don't want to break the trust my parents have in me. If I use their car to go to Lebanon and they find out then I will never get to use their car again and they would be so disappointed in me, which is worse than losing the car. But I am going to make the right decision and just use it to go to work, and besides I should be saving my money instead of wasting it buying stupid things in Lebanon.

Night on Bald Mountain

2.4
In the 1940 film Fantasia, one of the compositions presented was Night on Bald Mountain, by Modest Mussorgsky. The piece details the cataclysm as, on Walpurgis Night, the archdemon Chernabog awakens and climbs down from his mountain roost. From there, he proceeds to wreak havoc as he conducts ghosts, wraiths and the spirits of the fallen to attack a nearby village. However, as the legion of darkness nears the crux of their power, they are driven away as the sound of a church bell resounds from the town, and Chernabog and his forces are driven back into hiding.
As is the case with all presentations from Fantasia, Night on Bald Mountain and its accompanying animation are among my favorite pieces. By itself, the musical score was a darkly entertaining piece, but the animation improves it fivefold at least. The imagery is astounding, and the use of metaphors similarly so. Chernabog is an obvious representation of Satan, and being driven away by the sound of a church bell is an extremely potent metaphor as well.

You Know the Germans Always Make Good Stuff

2.4
Vince Offer Schlomi, more commonly known as Vince Offer, is perhaps most famous for his unique and freewheeling performance marketing the cleaning product ShamWow! on television infomercials.
I myself chance upon these videos quite frequently, and Offer's pitch always makes me want to dial this toll-free number NOW and purchase myself a ShamWow! Also to beware of imitators.
The power of Offer's pitch lies in the aggression with which he comes at the audience. Speaking in a non-stop dialect and jagged motions, Offer instills confidence in the observer and comes across as solid, amusing and quite persuasive.

Well I have French 2 with a bunch of sophomores this semester, and bunch of those sophomores are in English 10 Honors with Mrs. Beaudin just like I was. Well right now I have noticed they are reading the book Fahrenheit 451, which I thought was the best book I had ever read in that class. The book is definitely an eye opener of the fact that how true it really applies to the real world today. The book being about how literature is dying out and that it was a law that a person could not read because it was considered bad. Instead people would pretty much be brain washed into listening to their "sea shells" which were referred to as headphones. Hmm sound like people today? Though reading is not illegal not as many people are reading and people are becoming more illiterate because not as much reading is being done today. People, I think, do tend to follow in the direction of listening to their iPod or MP3 player all the time, rather than picking up a book for a couple hours and reading. Though I have to say I am one of those people who like never read, I will still book up a book at least once a year on my own time and try and read it. If only everyone was able to do this.

This ending weekend we has our basketball game against Newmarket. They thought they were going to blow us out of the gym cause of the 2 1/2 hour bus drive and a 30 min. wait.
We came back at them and went into over time and lost. There other team was amazed on how we played.

Student Roughs Up Bus Driver

Also posted on CNN, this video details an attack by a 16-year-old African-American male on a substitute bus driver.
The boy is bipolar and expressed disdain at the way the bus driver performed her duties, feeling that she stopped the bus far more than she should. Directly after, he attacked her.
The bus driver sustained a severe beating and now has a number of lacerations across her body.

I think this was a terrible thing to do, but perhaps there were extenuating circumstances. The kid was bipolar...maybe he was off medication. At any rate, this was definitely completely uncalled for, and is definitely a situation which mandates the "think before you act" rule.
