Communication: Verbal and Nonverbal

Communication takes several forms, but the most common is nonverbal. It is said that 90% of all communication is non-verbal. In this video groups were given cards and had to act out what was on the card - only one person was allowed to talk, the other needed to try to convey something without words. The results proved the point that sometimes our actions don't coincide with our words, which can lead to misinterpretation. Has this ever happened to you?How has someone's or your non-verbal cues led to misinterpretation? Or how has this conveyed a message that may not have been intended? Or, have you intentionally used non-verbal communication to convey a message. Try and guess what each person is trying to communicate to the other. Sometimes the clues are not so obvious.

  1. Heh heh heh. An amusing look at the subject mentioned.

I can definitely believe that 90% of communication is nonverbal. I'm a person who's almost constantly in motion, so I'm more like 99% nonverbal communication.

Perhaps that makes it unfair for me to comment on this video? lol

  2. I am like 1% nonverbal communication and 99% verbal communication. I like to communicate by talking and I find it hard to communicate using nonverbal methods.

  3. After watching this video, I was able to figure out each message that each person was trying to get to the other person. This definitely shines light on the fact the 90 percent of communication is non-verbal and even exaggerates it. I have found myself in this situation before and sometimes the wrong message has been conveyed either to me or to the other person. I think that if you are not able to get the message across when not using words you should just say the thing that you need to say.
